Choose the Best Fuel Pricing Plan for Your Home

Summer is kicking into full gear here in Central Pennsylvania which means now is the time to start thinking about your fuel budgeting options. Luckily for you, W.C. Eshenaur & Son, Inc. understands that heating oil and propane pricing plans aren’t one-size-fits-all. To suit your unique household budget and home fueling needs, we’ve come up with 3 different pricing options to help make your fall and winter heating costs more manageable. Keep reading to learn about our distinct pricing options and how to decide which is right for you.
Why Central PA Residents Select Price Protection for Their Fuel Costs
Choosing price protection for your annual supply of heating oil adds predictability to your fuel costs and often saves you money while adding convenience. Plus, these plans will help our customers protect their wallets from unexpected changes in fuel prices by either capping their maximum heating oil price at today’s market price, allowing customers to split their payments throughout the year, or purchasing their fuel during the off-season.

Pick a Plan that Best Suits Your Budget & Energy Needs
Rather than having your energy bills hit all at once in the two or three coldest months, pick one of our plans to help you manage your bills and find a more effective, worry-free way to provide warmth and comfort all year round. We offer three different pricing plans: a Budget Plan, a Pre-Buy Plan, and a Price Cap Plan.
1. Fuel Budget Plan
Spread your fuel payments evenly throughout the year with a budget plan from W.C. Eshenaur & Son, Inc.. Choose this plan to evenly distribute your fuel costs throughout the year for a predictable, easy-to-manage monthly payment.
2. Ready Reserve: Pre-Buy Option
Rather than taking a gamble on winter fuel rates that almost always go up during the peak winter months, save more by purchasing your fuel during the off-season. These lower rates save you money and ensure that you have your guaranteed fuel supply all winter.
3. Price Cap Plan
Never pay more than the predetermined price per gallon. A cap price sets a ceiling, or cap, on how high your price can go. It also protects you if prices go down; anytime our daily cash price is below the ceiling, you pay the lower price.

What Is a Ductless Mini-Split?
A ductless mini-split heat pump is made of one outdoor unit and one or more indoor units that work together to evenly cool (or heat) your entire home or individual rooms. The indoor units are sleek in design and can be affixed to any interior wall. Ductless mini-split systems are an energy-efficient alternative to unattractive, inefficient window air conditioners. Not to mention, newer models have a heat pump feature that can provide extra warmth when the seasons change.
How Do Mini-Split Heat Pumps Work?
Mini-split heat pumps are HVAC systems that combine ductless design with the ability to heat and cool rooms in your home by transferring outside air through refrigerant lines. Since these systems do not require existing ductwork, they are the perfect option to add A/C or supplemental heat to select rooms in your home, renovated spaces, additions, and more! The ease of installation makes ductless mini-splits the preferred choice among Central Pennsylvania homeowners and are excellent for homes without existing ductwork. Benefits of combined mini-split heat pumps include:
- Low-cost heating and cooling
- Zoned temperature control
- Remote-controlled operation
- Whisper-quiet sound and sleek design
- Increased home comfort and resale value

3 Eco-Friendly Benefits of Propane Fuel
1. Propane is a low-carbon fuel alternative
When thinking about ways to create a cleaner and environmentally friendly future, it’s essential to consider energy options that help us to decarbonize now. Luckily, propane gives us an incredible fuel alternative to help us meet this goal. Propane meets the rigorous standards set by the Clean Air Act of 1990 and all clean air energy standards for burned fuels by the Environmental Protection Agency. According to the Propane Education & Research Council, propane produces 52 percent fewer greenhouse gas emissions than grid-generated electricity [1]. Need a propane fuel delivery to your home? 2. Domestic fuel production = less carbon output
You may be wondering how propane’s domestic production affects our environment—we have an answer for you! Domestically produced fuels require less energy and carbon output for shipping and storage, meaning that USA-produced propane gas is more environmentally conscious than the variety of imports that it replaces. Furthermore, this reduction in carbon emissions is reflected in the affordable cost of propane fuel—with less emissions per dollar spent than any other fuel [2] when looking at propane Autogas used for school buses, forklifts, mowers, and heavy and light-duty vehicles. 3. Propane provides more sustainable solutions for clean energy
Using a variety of eco-friendly energy options is the most effective strategy to lower emissions and help solve a variety of environmental energy challenges. Propane fuel is perfect for working alongside renewable wind and solar power while providing reliability that both homeowners and commercial businesses can count on, no matter what [3]. Not to mention, propane’s versatility in powering a wide variety of home appliances, including your furnace, boiler, water heater, pool heater, indoor fireplace, outdoor range, kitchen stove, and generator, means that homeowners can do their part in lowering their household emissions today! Central Pennsylvania Spring Plumbing Checklist
Ready to get started? Here’s the top six home maintenance tasks our home comfort professionals at W.C. Eshenaur & Son, Inc. recommend adding to your spring-cleaning checklist this year:
1. Check for leaks
Make sure your home is leak-free. Inspect the areas underneath sinks, behind toilets, and in basements for any signs of leakage. Be sure to head outside to double-check that you don’t have any leaking spigots or faucets. When compounded, small leaks can cause big problems. It’s best to get them taken care of right away by a reputable plumber, like W.C. Eshenaur & Son, Inc.. W.C. Eshenaur & Son, Inc. is the top choice for professional plumbing services here in Pennsylvania. Small leaks are often simple for our plumbers to fix, preventing them from becoming more severe and costly.
2. Clear out your gutters
Gutters easily fill with leaves, debris, ice, and other blockages. It’s important to clean them or have them cleaned out in the spring to prevent water backup on your roof. Excess water on your roof can lead to leaks, water damage, and other issues that are easily preventable with a simple gutter cleaning.
3. Replace your air filters
A quick, simple, and affordable way to upgrade your home’s indoor air quality is to replace your home’s air filters every 90 days. Dirt, dust, and allergens get caught in your filter so tackling this replacement while you’re checking off your spring-cleaning to-do list is essential!
4. Clean faucets and fixtures
Sink and shower faucets can collect sedimentary buildup of the chemicals that are in our water. Cleaning them means that the buildup won’t eat away at the metal, come off on your skin, or make dishwashing less effective. Scrub off the buildup and consider a replacement if the buildup is too stubborn.
5. Schedule annual maintenance
Furnaces, boilers, air conditioners, and appliances like water pumps and water heaters all need annual maintenance. You can increase efficiency, use less oil, and reduce the risk of a future breakdown by scheduling a yearly tune-up for your home comfort equipment with our W.C. Eshenaur & Son, Inc. professionals today. Contact us online to schedule your appointment today!

When your Harrisburg, PA home has a plumbing problem or you’re looking to get started on your next plumbing project, you may be tempted by the idea of hiring a handyperson or asking for help from a family member or friend. While they may be willing to lend you a hand, you could wind up paying a lot for this decision down the road. The wrong equipment or a lack of experience can ultimately wind up escalating a small issue into a big one, and you’ll wish you had relied on a licensed, insured plumber like the ones at W.C. Eshenaur & Son, Inc.. Our plumbing experts have the right experience and equipment to complete nearly any plumbing project. Keep reading this blog to learn the top reasons you should go with a licensed and insured plumber from W.C. Eshenaur & Son, Inc. for your plumbing emergency or project.
Top Reasons to Choose a Licensed & Insured Plumber in PA
Qualifications, Knowledge, & Experience
Being a plumber in Pennsylvania requires a license, with licenses issued in local municipalities as opposed to at the state level. All licensed plumbers undergo ongoing training to stay up-to-date with the newest products and technologies, unlike your loved one or someone who isn’t licensed. Our expert plumbers are also aware of things like building codes and will ensure all plumbing work completed in your home follows county and state regulations.
Legal Permission
Not only does a plumbing license certify that a plumber is properly educated and trained, but it also certifies that they are legally allowed to provide plumbing services. Each municipality in Pennsylvania has specific rules and regulations for plumbers; if a handyperson or your uncle couldn’t pass the requirements to get a plumbing license, hiring them is simply not worth the risk to your home and wallet.
Insurance
An unlicensed plumber will also be uninsured, and it’s important to remember that “uninsured” always equals “liability” when it comes to work performed on your property. This means that you’ll be responsible for medical bills and lost wages if your handyman or family member gets injured while working at your home. Also, if something happens to your plumbing system due to the work performed by the uninsured party, it’s likely that your homeowner’s insurance will not cover the cost. By contrast, a licensed plumber from W.C. Eshenaur & Son, Inc. is fully insured and carries liability coverage, so you don’t have to worry about a thing—but it’s always okay to ask for proof of insurance before work begins.

Tips to Prevent Heat-Loss, Fuel Runouts, and Heating Equipment Breakdowns
Know When to Order Fuel
Do you know when the best time to place a fuel order is? If you use heating oil, you should order more when your tank gauge reads no less than ¼ full; if you use propane, order when your tank is no less than 30% full. That gives us time to bring you the fuel you need while helping to avoid a no-heat situation.
Use Propane? Add a Tank Monitor
We highly recommend tank monitors to our propane delivery customers. A tank monitor is a small device that sits on your tank and transmits your remaining fuel level to your smartphone or any other Internet-capable device (like a computer or tablet). You can even set customized tank level alerts.
Sign Up for Automatic Delivery
If you’d rather take the hassle out of your heating and don’t want to call each time you need oil or propane, sign up for our automatic delivery program. With this service, our advanced system keeps track of your heating oil or propane usage for you, delivering fuel to your home automatically when you need it. It’s that simple!
Don’t Skip Your Annual Heating System Tune-Up Service
The best time of year to have this maintenance performed on your oil- or propane-fired equipment is each fall—right before your equipment works its hardest. If there are any issues with your heating system at the time of your maintenance visit, you’ll have time to correct them. But if you haven’t had a tune-up for this heating season, it’s not too late! Schedule this service today by reaching out to us.
Consider an Upgrade
If your heating equipment has seen better days, it may be time for an upgrade. Whether you choose to replace your complete system with a newer, high-efficiency model or to correct parts-related issues found at the time of your tune-up, don’t risk operating old, inefficient, and potentially unsafe equipment for another winter. You can learn more about W.C. Eshenaur & Son, Inc. professional heating installations on our website.
Choose a Full-Service HVAC Provider
Take preventative measures that can save you a fortune but won’t cost you one, like trusting a full-service HVAC provider with your total home comfort. Unlike discount heating oil providers, W.C. Eshenaur & Son, Inc. has the expertise it takes to care for your heating system to ensure it is operating efficiently year after year. Plus, we offer 24/7 emergency service should you ever need it!
Enroll in a Maintenance Plan

The better you take care of your heating equipment, the better it will be at keeping your home warm safely and without interruption.

A no-heat scenario due to lack of fuel will not only leave your family cold, but it is also a serious safety hazard. Be Prepared for the Silent Threat:
What You Should Know About Carbon Monoxide
What is carbon monoxide (CO) and how is it produced?
Carbon monoxide (CO) is a deadly, colorless, odorless, poisonous gas. It is produced by the incomplete burning of various fuels, including coal, wood, charcoal, oil, kerosene, propane, and natural gas. Products and equipment powered by internal combustion engines such as portable generators, cars, lawn mowers, and power washers also produce CO.
What are the symptoms of CO poisoning?
- Nausea
- Dizziness
- Confusion
- Headache
- Fatigue
- Shortness of breath
What should you do if the CO alarm sounds or you suspect a CO leak?
Never ignore an alarming CO alarm! It is warning you of a potentially deadly hazard. If the alarm signal sounds, do not try to find the source of the CO. Instead, you should:
- Immediately move outside to fresh air.
- Call the non-emergency number of your local fire department. The fire department will do an air quality test. If carbon monoxide is detected, W.C. Eshenaur & Son, Inc. will respond and inspect the furnace.
- After calling your fire department, do a head count to check that all people are accounted for. DO NOT reenter the premises until the emergency service responders have given you permission.
- If the source of the CO is determined to be a malfunctioning appliance, DO NOT operate that appliance until it has been properly serviced by trained personnel.
